Immersed within 9 acres of beautifully manicured lawns and woodland in Blackwood, this majestic manor house enjoys an elevated position on Maesrudded Hill, with spectacular views across the valley.

Originally built in 1892, Maes Manor Country Hotel has been carefully refurbished to offer the modern comforts of the most contemporary hotels alongside the traditional ideals of a charming country house. The picturesque gardens offer a haven of peace and tranquillity, with magnificent views across the surroundings, far away from the stresses of everyday life.

Offering convenient access to the nearby M4 motorway, during your stay at Maes Manor you can easily explore the wonderful surroundings, including Newport, Cardiff, Cwmcarn Forest, Caerphilly Castle and the Brecon Beacons.

Hotel information
Offering an idyllic setting for your special occasions, the hotel offers the Islwyn Suite, a large pillar free ballroom, complete with an ornate carved stone fountain. The suite can hold up to 220 people.

Business events can also be held at the hotel, with a number of multi-function rooms available, holding anything from 22-220 people.

The hotel is renowned for its regular nights of quality entertainment, with music evenings and many of the country’s leading tribute bands playing at the hotel.


Food & beverage
Views of the garden can be enjoyed in the Lounge Bar, which serves light snacks and drinks in a serene setting, with traditional fireplaces at either end of the room.

The Cocktail Bar is open 24 hours a day to hotel residents. It is also and also available to non-residents at lunch and dinner time.

Due to popular demand, the hotel’s Seasons Restaurant has recently been refurbished to enable a further 45 covers, bringing the total capacity of the restaurant to at least 100. It serves a menu of classic and traditional British dishes, which are changed seasonally.

During the summer months, you can also enjoy food and drinks on the peaceful and relaxing shaded patio area.

Breakfast is served Monday to Thursday from 07:00 - 10:00 and Friday to Sunday and Bank Holidays from 08:00 - 10:00.

Lunch is served from 12:00 - 14:00 each day.

Dinner is served from 18:30 - 19:30.


Area information
Maes Manor is set in the heart of the Welsh Valleys. Nearby areas boasts a wealth of natural beauty and historical interests, such as Cwmcarn Forest, Caerphilly Castle and the breathtaking Brecon Beacons. Blackwood also offers the Blackwood Showfield. Newport is just 10 miles (16 km) away and guests can enjoy all that cosmopolitan Cardiff has to offer in less than an hour's travelling.


Travel information
By Car:
From London and the North:
- Take the M4.
- Exit at junction 28.
- Join the A48.
- At the first roundabout take the third exit onto the A4072.
- Continue straight on to the next roundabout and take the fourth exit onto the A467.
- Follow this road until a left-hand turn onto the A4048.
- Follow this road until a left-hand turn onto Heal Tynewydd Road.
- Then, turn left onto Maesruddud Lane.

Room Types
Each of the 28 en suite rooms reflects the style and charm of a traditional country house. Many of the bedrooms have wonderful views of the countryside.

14 of the rooms are found in the main house and the other 14 are in the beautifully appointed coach house, which is in the courtyard, adjacent to the main house.

Single Room
Small room with views over the courtyard or gardens.

Double Room
Each of the spacious rooms is tastefully decorated to a high standard, with garden views.

Twin Room
Each of the spacious rooms is tastefully decorated to a high standard, with garden views in most rooms and courtyard views in others.

Business Double Room
Valid from 19th January to 28th February. Valid Sunday -Thursdays only. Double use for single occupancy only. Please note that only continental breakfasts are available with this room type.
